REFINERY AND PETROCHEMICAL
VAPOR CONTAINMENT

Vaportite™ has become an attractive vapor containment solution for refinery and petrochemical engineers. Preventing vapors from escaping out of sewer drains allows safe and cost effective maintenance and hot work to occur. By using Vaportite, many are realizing enhanced productivity from quicker turnarounds along with significant solid waste disposal savings.

Before Vaportite, engineers used make-shift methods like sand bags to cover sewer openings. These sand bags become contaminated by the vapors and must be treated as hazardous solid waste. The cost of disposal of the sand is between $1 to $2 per pound. One 50 pound sand bag can cost as much as $100 to dispose. Additionally, most engineers find that sand falls into the sewer resulting in time consuming recovery of the sand.

Flexible, easy-to-use and dispose of solutions have become increasingly important as hazardous solid waste becomes more costly and a higher priority. Vaportite has been used at leading refineries and petrochemical plants with demanding safety environments for over 25 years.
